Green Thumb Gems for the Classroom Windowsill
Children respond with enthusiasm and excitement to growing things. Coming from busy worlds and often removed from ties to the land, many children do not have the experience of planting and watching seeds, plants, and bulbs grow. Green Thumb Gems is a resource that provides nine different plant related experiences with a connection to reading, journaling, scientific exploration and math concepts already in place in today’s classroom curriculum. The excitement generated from growing plants will provide learning experiences for students that are long remembered.
Literature Links to Agriculture
This resource provides 18 lessons that incorporate reading, writing, scientific investigations and math lessons with a “literature” book. Excite students with lessons that correlate with Tops and Bottoms, Pumpkin Circle, Oh, Say Can You Seed?, Bananas, How Do You Raise a Raisin? and Popcorn. This resource allows teachers to incorporate “ag” lessons into the already established curriculum with such topics as I’ve Got You Under My Skin, PlantDetective, Can Popcorn Swim?, Fruit or Vegetable, and Garden Grids plus many more.

A Baker’s Dozen of Agricultural Lesson Plans
