Professional Development

Middle School Teachers

MAEF recognizes the need for ongoing training opportunities for educators. We host workshops from many nationally recognized programs including the Leopold Education Project, Project Learning Tree and the Wet and Wild curriculum. These workshops all have an agricultural and natural resource focus, and participants receive teacher’s materials, curriculum guides and much, much more!

Integrative Agriculture for Middle Schools Teachers Workshop!

Join Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation and University of Maryland Extension for a jam-packed workshop especially for middle school teachers, staff and parents.  Learn about great state and national programs to help integrate agriculture, health and nutrition into your school and classroom:  Farm to School, Grow It Eat It!, Growing Healthy Habits, Wool Works, School Garden Basics and Maintenance and much more!  Meet local agriculture community partners, share success stories, meet great speakers, learn how to engage the ag community in your projects, participate in fun activities and bring home cool stuff!

The workshop will be offered in three locations around the state this summer, 2010:  July 27-28 in Keedysville, Washington County; July 30-31 at Cylburn Aboretum in Baltimore City; Aug. 3-4 at Horn Point EE Center, Cambridge, Dorchester County.  Registration is just $35 per person, limited to 30 seats for each session.  Sessions run from 1pm to 5pm the first day and 9am to 4pm the second day, with a farm-to-fork luncheon on day two!

The workshop is open to all schools, public, independent, traditional and non-traditional! MSDE in-service and CTE credit is available for a small administration fee, but is not required to participate.
